Magpul Stocks is the American dream. A veteran-founded company created a simple device that made drawing a magazine easier. Now we have what’s best described as an empire.

The company produces a little bit of everything for everyone, and they are high-quality products that are fairly affordable.

It’s impressive what Magpul has done, and they’ve even found a way to produce these products right here in the United States.

They make a ton of stuff, but today we will break down their best stocks.

Magpul makes all sorts of things.

I’m not planning to make this a Magpul commercial, and I assure you Magpul isn’t sponsoring an article. I’m simply here to explain some differences between their numerous stock options and which ones truly stand out in a crowded world.

With that said, let’s dive in and explore the world of Mapgul’s stocks.

Summary of Our Top Picks

Best Magpul Stocks

1. Magpul SGA

The Magpul SGA is a rock-solid shotgun stock that’s easy to fit individual shooters, easy to use with common accessories, and plenty of comfy for high round counts.

The SGA (Photo: Magpul)

This affixed stock offers a traditional design like something you’d see on most shotguns. That’s how it appears, anyway.

The stock combines the benefits of a pistol grip stocked shotgun and a traditional shotgun stock.

With a very pronounced pistol grip, you can easily hold the gun up with a single hand and keep it oriented downrange. It provides a great grip if you prefer the old push/pull for recoil reduction. Magpul designed the stock to use a series of inserts to adjust the length of pull for individual shooters.

On top of that, the stock features a series of sling points, and you can easily add a sight riser to use various height optics.

A recoil-reducing recoil pad tops everything off to keep things comfy. Magpul blew the world away with the SGA stock, and I hope they extend the stock to fit a wider variety of shotguns.

The worst thing about the SGA series of shotgun stocks. They only make them for the Remington 870 and Mossberg 500/590 series of shotguns.

I want the SGA on every shotgun I own, from the Benelli M4 to the Ithaca 37.

2. Zhukov Stock

Magpul produced AK stocks for some time, but the Zhukov came in like Miley Cyrus in 2013, making them quickly obsolete.

The Zhukov, named after the Russian Field Marshal of WWII fame, delivers one of the most modern AK stocks out there. If you’re a traditionalist, look the other way.

Zhukov Buttstock

The Zhukov stocks take advantage of the AK design and incorporate the ability to fold and give you the ability to change the length of pull with the press of a button. If you’re using one of the AK’s famed side-mounted optics, you’ll be happy to hear it folds to the right.

For sling use, you get the option for a typical 1.25-inch webbing sling and a QD point for a more modern option. Tossing a sling on your AK isn’t always easy, but the Zhukov cleans things up a fair bit.

The stock locks into place easily and provides a stable platform for taking accurate shots. A little support goes a long way, and the cheek rest is fantastic. You can even add an optional riser to the Zhukov for using those high-sitting AK optics.

Magpul’s Zhukov stock allows your AK to take on some modern flair and ergonomics. It’s well worth the cost and even comes in plum.

3. Hunter Series

Magpul is an uber-tactical company that typically outfits your ARs and AKs, right? Well, that’s short-sighted.

The company embraces a wide variety of firearms, including several more traditional bolt action rifle platforms.

Magpul embraced the Remington 700, Ruger American, and Savage 110 series rifles with the Hunter series of stock systems.

These stocks use the same high-performance polymer design we’ve come to expect from Magpul. They incorporate several M-LOK slots on the sides and bottom of the stock.

Toss on your favorite accessories, you know, bipods, lights, cup holders, and everything else you can mount to a Picatinny rail.

Magpul uses a strong bedding block to keep your rifle as accurate as possible. A good bolt gun isn’t worth a dang if it doesn’t shoot straight and put projectiles where you want them.

At the rear end, we see a similar design to the Magpul SGA shotgun stock. This includes an ergonomic, aggressive pistol grip paired with an adjustable length of pull via a system of inserts.

It’s lightweight, available in a wide variety of colors, and is just waiting to be rattle canned.

I understand Remington, Savage, and Ruger produce different varieties of the rifles listed, and Magpul makes a few variations to accommodate action lengths, magazine types, and more.

4. PRS Series

If you consider yourself a precision rifleman with an AR-pattern rifle, then the PRS stock has likely been on your radar.

Magpul PRS

The Magpul PRS series fits more than AR series firearms, and Magpul released the PRS series for both the FN FAL and G3 series rifles in case cold war battle rifles are more your speed.

PRS stands for Precision Rifle/Sniper, and it’s currently in its third generation for AR platforms and remains in the second generation for the HK and FN rifles. A PRS stock is designed to give you the best shooting position possible and provides an extremely ergonomic platform.

Plus, it’s Magpul, so we know we are getting a durable, well-made, and lightweight rifle stock.

Magpul designed the rubber butt pad of the PRS Gen 3 to be adjustable for both cant and height to maximize its contact with your shoulder. With all generations, we get an adjustable length of pull and adjustable comb height.

Unlike a carbine stock, these adjustments are incredibly precise and stable, allowing a precision shooter to adjust the stock for their needs.

At the bottom of the Gen 3 stock sits two M-LOK slots for adding a monopod for those real precise shots. The Gen 2 variants have threaded inserts with a 10-32 thread pattern for monopods.

Of course, you have a few sling points for keeping things secure and stable when you aren’t prone. These are some of the best rifle stocks on the planet for precision shooting, and unlike other options, they won’t cost half as much as your rifle.

5. MOE Rifle Stock

Everyone loves carbines…until they experience the joy of a rifle with a 20-inch barrel, rifle-length gas system, and fixed stock.

If you’ve found our lord and savior, the AR-15 rifle, then the MOE Rifle Stock is for you. The MOE Rifle Stock does the rifle stock just right and delivers an ergonomic platform that’s heads and tales better than the classic A2 stock.

The A2 stock features a long length of pull, an almost uncomfortably long stock, especially when introducing armor to the mix. You get the same LOP as an M4 carbine stock fully extended with Magpul’s MOE rifle stock. It’s just right for most shooters, and the LOP sits at 13.5 inches.

Magpul ensured the cheek weld was extensive and allowed you to button down and get behind your sights and optics with ease. It’s my choice on my Aero M16 clone, although it’s clearly not clone-worthy anymore. In fact, it’s better.

Beyond the awesome comfort and perfect LOP, Magpul did the Magpul thing and provided plenty of sling points to make sure your rifle remains supported and comfy.

The rear of the stock opens, and there is a massive compartment for storing batteries, cleaning kits, tools, skittles, and whatever else you could ever want.

Fixed stocks aren’t a favorite for everyone, but the Magpul MOE is the way to go if you need a true rifle stock.

6. CTR

Carbines are meant to be lightweight, compact, easy to wield, and simple. With this in mind, the Magpul CTR has long been the dominant carbine stock for decades.

It’s been seen in the hands of a number of military and police personnel, including elite commandos within the SEAL, Raider, and Green Beret communities.

With the CTR, you get the classic six-position carbine stock. Magpul Stocks cut through the M4 stock and reduced everything where need be. The company used an A-frame design with an adjustment latch on the inside to prevent any kind of accidental release or extension.

On the inside, get the adjustment lever, as well as a QD socket for slings and a pair of 1.25-inch sling points. On the outside, we get a decent little cheek weld, not bad, not generous, but better than the standard M4 design.

The friction lock that really pulls out a miracle to reduce wobble and increase friction made the CTR stand out then and even now. This helps keep the stock stable when you zoom in for that accurate, fight-stopping shot.

The Magpul CTR stock doesn’t stand out as the best stock for precision shooting, the most compact stock, or any other award for being the best in any specific category. The CTR stands out because it’s a jack of all trades. It’s well made, compact, tight, light, and easy to use.

The CTR is the stock of choice if your rifle fits in that everyman carbine requirement.

7. ACS

I’m not the type to like minimalist stocks, and as a thick boi, I can appreciate thick stocks that provide more and more support.

Even on my carbines, I prefer a stock like the ACS. The big fat cheek weld greets my face (and beard) like an old friend.

The ACS series stocks don’t pull punches size-wise, and that’s fine with me. I don’t mind the little extra size.

I enjoy the increased comfort, especially when used with LPVOs or other magnified optics. However, that’s not the main draw to the ACS stock.

Best for Storage

The ACS stock is basically a backpack for your rifle. Sure, it’s a great stock, but it also offers a lot of room to store all your goodies.

Your goodies are mission essentials like batteries, which you can fit six CR123 batteries into the stock. Another compartment gives you room for hearing protection, small tools, and much more.

With the ACS stock, you get more storage options than most, but you pay a cost for it. That cost is sling points. You get one, and you dang sure better like it.

While new, the MOE SL-K has captured not only my heart but the heart of shooters worldwide. The MOE SL-K is the compact version of the MOE SL.

This new stock is Magpul’s lightest and shortest AR-15 stock.

(Photo: Magpul)

With the MOE SL-K, we get a stock designed for the shortest, lightest, and most PDW-like carbines on the planet.

At only 7.9 ounces and 6.5 inches, it fits well with your smallest, lightest carbines. While it might be a small stock, the design isn’t slacking by any means.

Most ‘PDW’ stocks don’t offer much on the cheek weld or support front. The MOE SL-K doesn’t hold back. It provides a supportive cheek weld with the Magpul Stocks slope and a beard-friendly design.

Why give up your comfort just because you have a carbine?

The SL-K is smaller than the SL model (pictured above).

At the rear of the stock, we have a footman’s loop for 1.25-inch webbing, but you can also attach a QD point here if you so wish. You’ll also find a Magpul buttpad and shape that’s famous for its ability to cling to your shoulder but also easily roll for a shoulder swap.

Most PDW stocks offer limited control and support, but the Magpul MOE SL-K provides that rock-solid support while remaining light and handy.
